Introduction

Villa Oceane is a charming five-bedroom property hidden away by the Madiha surf point, between Matara and Mirissa on Sri Lanka’s South Coast. This is a convivial, well-run place, with a responsive and well-qualified staff drawn from high-quality hotels and the extra attraction of being a short distance away from the coastal road. A secluded beach feels as if it belongs to you alone. As would be expected, the property attracts a number of surfers looking for creature comforts but is also appealing to the non-surfer looking for an escapist atmosphere. Better value than many properties in its category.

Accommodation

There are five rooms including one Master Room, three on the first floor and two on the ground floor. The Master Room (48 sq m) is twice the size of the other four rooms and has an additional seating area with sofa and two chairs (the other rooms have one easy chair) and a bathtub as well as a shower. All five rooms have a shared balcony with sea view, king-sized four-poster bed with mosquito netting, mini fridge, a/c and ceiling fan, hairdryer and free WiFi.

Facilities

Villa Oceane is a few minutes’ stroll from Madiha surf point, one of the finest surf points in Sri Lanka, about 5 kms west of Mirissa. It is suitable for experienced surfers; beginners should consider Weligama. The small swimming pool in the garden is amply sized for an active swimmer. Meals (Western or Asian) are freshly-prepared to your wishes and can be taken on the balcony of your own room, in a small restaurant area or in the small garden which has Palm and Kottamba trees. A small beach, protected by headlands on either side is full of rock pools, quiet enough for turtles to come ashore occasionally to lay their eggs. The property also has a small lounge area.

Villa Oceane is in a peaceful location alongside Madiha surf point, about 5km west of the south coast resort of Mirissa. About 2.5 hours from Bandaranaike airport down the coastal highway.
