Villa 46

Introduction

Marvan Atapattu, for many years a stalwart of the Sri Lanka cricket team, and his wife Neluni are the energetic team behind the development of Villa 46, a modern four-bedroomed property in Hikkaduwa with a comfortable ambience and a great location looking onto the broad expanse of Narigama beach. Marvan's Test number, 46, lends itself to the naming of the villa and the upstairs lounge has a small memorabilia area which showcases his career. Narigama Bay is Hikkaduwa's southern cousin; life is more peaceful here and the bay is more directed towards independent, boutique properties than its vibrant offshoot a short stroll up the coast.

Accommodation

Four well-appointed a/c rooms have balconies or patios with table and chairs, looking out to the pool and beach beyond. They have king-sized beds, ceiling fan, Wi-Fi, 32-inch flat-screen TVs with satellite, armchairs, safe, tea/coffee facilities, dark wooden floors. All are approximately 25 sq m. En suite bathrooms are contemporary and finished to a high standard.

Araliya: Located on the ground floor, Araliya opens out to a sitting area with the pool and well-maintained lawn.

Orchid: Another ground floor room, Orchid opens out onto a spacious sitting area with the beach and sea in full view.

Nelum: opens out onto a large balcony on the first floor with spectacular views.

Manel: also on the first floor, opens out onto a large sitting area with views of the beach.

Facilities

The central area on the ground floor offers comfortable sofas and leads out to an attractive patio area for meal times and a decent-sized pool for the size of property, complete with teak sun beds and umbrellas. Upstairs is another lounge area, this time with a 46-inch satellite TV, perfect to catch up with Sri Lanka's latest cricketing exploits, small bar and terrace with great ocean views. There is also a library area, laundry and drying facilities, and spa and massage can be arranged. The cook-cum-manager is highly-regarded and spends some of his spare time conducting cooking demonstrations at five-star hotels. There are also a host of laid-back beach bars and restaurants up the coast.

Thus unassuming but chilled and comfortable modern villa has great views of the quietest section of Hikkaduwa beach from its upstairs rooms

Villa 46 is on the quieter southern fringes of Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka's most vibrant and youthful west coast resort, within walking distant of the town's bars and restaurants. About two-and-a-quarter hours from Colombo's main international airport.
