The Thinnai

Introduction

Situated in the quieter part of Jaffna town, The Thinnai is a 39-suite hotel with 58 bedrooms. The hotel is ideal for guests who are keen on exploring the Northern peninsula while enjoying modern day comforts. Thinnai which roughly translates to rest spot in English is inspired by the verandas found in traditional Jaffna houses which is commonly used by residents and visitors as a rest area where they can relax taking in the beauty of the garden while sipping a hot cup of tea.

Accommodation

The 39 suites at The Thinnai are categorized into one-bedroom suites - Vaalai, Panai, Thennai and two-bedroom suites - Thamarai, Nelli and Mallihai. All rooms are styled as apartments making the hotel a great option for long stays. Vaalai also has a disabled friendly room in the ground floor. The one-bedroom suites are approximately 645sq.ft, air-conditioned with a well-appointed living area, a private balcony, the option of king/queen or twin beds, sofa bed and ensuite bathroom.

In addition, Panai Suites offer a kitchen with a cooker, microwave oven and toaster, while the Thennai category also has a private plunge pool.

The two-bedroom suites are 1130sq.ft in size, air-conditioned with a spacious furnished living area, private balcony, two bedrooms – one with a king-sized bed and the other with a queen-sized or twin beds and two bathrooms.

The Nelli suite has a kitchen with a cooker, microwave oven and toaster. The Mallihai suites are still under construction which will be opened soon.

All rooms have a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, wardrobe, safe, ironing facilities and Wi-Fi.

Facilities

The Thinnai has a 24 coffee shop and café that currently operates as the main restaurant which serves a variety of dishes with an emphasis on authentic Jaffna delicacies. The hotel also has a swimming pool, a gym and a juice bar.

The main restaurant, Amudham and the bar and lounge are still under construction and will be open to the public soon.
