Introduction

The Oliphant Boutiquwe Villa by Amaya is a charming colonial house amid tea estates and mountains in Shanthipura, the highest village in Sri Lanka, just a short drive from Nuwara Eliya Town. Built by Laurence Oliphant, the son of Sir Anthony Oliphant, the eight Chief Justice of old Ceylon, this colonial mansion offers stunning views overlooking the mountains through its antique windows. With little restoration done to maintain its original glamour, The Oliphant Boutique Villa has low ceilings, neatly manicured gardens and still sports its 150 year-old floors. The Oliphant Boutique Villa is an ideal stay for couples or friends travelling together.

Accommodation

The Oliphant Boutique Villa offers seven charming Luxury Rooms, each with its own comforts: cable TV, cupboard, tea/coffee making facility, four-poster king-sized bed and a sitting space complete with a plush sofa. With pleasant light-coloured furnishings and a fireplace in each room, you are sure to feel at ease at The Oliphant. Six rooms can be converted to triple basis on request while room No. 2 is much suited for honeymoon couples as it is smaller and cosier than the rest.

Each room comes with a heater to keep you warm on a chilly night as well as an attached washroom decorated in black and white. Keeping with the rest of the décor throughout the property, all fittings from the wash basin to the shower create the feel of an old English colonial home. The bathroom is complete with h/w, all amenities and hairdryer. There is Wi-Fi coverage throughout the property.

Facilities

The Oliphant Boutique Villa is a typical home in the hills, with low ceilings, fireplaces and wooden floors. There is an open courtyard in the middle of the property, where you could opt to have your meals as well as a cosy indoor dining room which is able to accommodate about 20 people.

The menu ranges from traditional to fusion recipes, allowing guests to explore a variety of dishes. The Oliphant Boutique Villa offers a set menu as well as a choice from the a la carte range. There is also a selection of liquor guests can chose from.

The lounge is a snug space to spend an evening by the fire and there are plenty of trails to enjoy the great outdoors during the day.
