Introduction

The Fortress is a luxurious, contemporary hotel by a beautiful stretch of beach in Koggala, 20 minutes away from Galle’s 17C Dutch Fort. True to its name, the luxurious and tastefully designed Fortress unfolds inside tall solid walls. Inspired by the historic 17C Dutch Fort in Galle, the building design and the interior furnishings successfully blend traditional Dutch, Portuguese and Sri Lankan architecture with contemporary design. The property is situated on Koggala Beach, one of the Galle Coast's most idyllic beaches.

Accommodation

Fortress has 53 rooms with private courtyards or balconies overlooking the gardens, water features or the beach. Interiors have luxurious super-king size beds dressed in Egyptian cotton linen. In-room facilities include a/c, LCD TV with satellite channels, Bose DVD player and surround sound, IDD, tea/coffee facility, private bar and safe. The ensuite bathrooms have rainfall showers and baths.

Fortress Rooms: There are 11 Fortress Rooms, 65 sq m, with an open plan bathroom with rainfall shower and bathtub. The rooms open out to a private courtyard or garden balcony.

Ocean Rooms: The 18 Ocean rooms are on the upper floor with views across the gardens, white sandy beach and the Indian Ocean beyond. Each room has a split-level lounge area and bathroom with bath tub and rain shower.

Beach Rooms: The 12 Beach rooms are similar to the Ocean Rooms but on the ground floor opening out to the garden and the sea beyond. These spacious rooms have a split-level lounge area and stylish open plan bathroom with Jacuzzi and rain shower. A butler service is on offer.

Beach Splash Rooms: These four luxurious bedrooms are on the ground floor and offer panoramic sea views. Private plunge pools. Butler service.

Ocean Loft: The exquisite and spacious Ocean Lofts occupy two floors. Guests enter the living room with a private plunge pool and spectacular ocean views. A day bed serves as additional accommodation. The upper floor consists of the bedroom and stylish bathroom with wall and rain showers and bathtub. Each of the two Ocean Lofts covers a floor area of 140 sqm. The Ocean Lofts have a 24 hour private butler service.

Residence: Two super-luxurious Fortress Residences are located on either end of the hotel and each covers an area of 240 sq m. Each includes two bedrooms, a separate living and entertainment area, an outdoor dining deck and a private infinity pool enjoying magnificent views of the coastline. 24-hour personal butler.

Sri Lankan and western dishes served by the poolside, fine dining at the Duo (Surf & Turf) restaurant or in your own room. A stylish bar opens out to the pool terrace and a Tea Lounge is on the upper floor. A swimming pool curves around the gardens of the hotel and has mood lighting at night. A well-equipped gymnasium and Spa occupy an entire wing. The Spa offers traditional Ayurvedic treatments and an extensive menu of international spa therapies as well as complimentary water therapies including sauna, steam and hydro bath.
