Facilities

Sun Island Resort & Spa has four restaurants ranging from Italian to authentic Maldivian cuisine. Maaniyaa is a spacious, open-air buffet buffet restaurant which opens for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Al Pontile (which translates as “the jetty”) is an attractive over-water restaurant which majors in traditional Italian specialties and has stunning lagoon views: a perfect spot for a romantic dinner. Sun Star is a Thai restaurant which also sits on the lagoon and has a wraparound deck. With daily catches pulled in from the crystalline waters, the Guraamuli Grill offers some of the freshest, barbecued seafood you will ever taste. Adventure Watersports offers boat hire, canoeing, catamaran, sailing, kneeboarding, snorkelling, wakeboarding, jet skis, windsurfing, water ski-ing, parasailing, jet blading. There is also a PADI-accredited diving centre. Or take a fishing expedition or a trip in search of whales and dolphins. Entertainment offerings include live bands, karaoke, cultural shows, and a DJ in the main bar every evening. Crab racing and stingray and shark feeding offer something different. Sports include a large infinity swimming pool with a separate children’s pool, a gymnasium, billiards / snooker, table tennis, darts, volleyball, badminton, basketball and squash. Araamu Spa is in a quiet corner of the resort and offers Wellness therapies. Other facilities include: 24-hour reception, laundry service, free Wi-fi in all rooms, souvenir shops. Sun island hosts weddings and has conference centre facilities for up to 200.

Sun Island Resort & Spa is located at the southern tip of South Ari Atoll close by to the South Ari Marine Protected Area (SAMPA). It is 113 kms from Velana International airport – a 17-minute flight transfer.
