Introduction
Shangri-La’s Hambantota Golf Resort & Spa is the only golf resort in Sri Lanka and offers 300 bedrooms sprawled across 53 acres and a host of activities as well as a full 18 holes for the avid golfer. Accommodation
The 300-bedrooms at the hotel are categorised as Deluxe Garden, Premier, Premier Ocean, while the Suites are categorised as Premier Golf Suite, Premier Ocean Suite, Themed Suites named as Araliya and Manel and the Presidential Suite.
The Deluxe, Premier and Premier Ocean (48 sqm) are spacious and are tastefully furnished with a king-sized or twin beds. All rooms have a sofa, writing table, chair, wardrobes and terrace or balcony depending on the room category. The ensuite bathrooms have a bathtub and shower cubicle. The interior of the room including décor and bed linen are warm colours of orange and blue.
The Premier Golf Suite and the Premier Ocean Suite (96 sqm),offer the same amenities and facilities but are far more spacious and have a dining area and a separate living area furnished with a sofa, hanging chair and large TV. The interior and colour theme are similar to that of the room categories.
The Themed Suites (144 sqm) and Presidential Suite (240 Sqm) share an eclectic theme in décor and interior unlike the rest of the room categories. While the facilities of the suites are similar, the layout is different. The Presidential Suite offers a large living area, a formal dining area, large bathroom with indoor and outdoor bathtub.
Wi-Fi is freely available in all parts of the hotel including the rooms and suites.
Facilities
Shangri-La’s Hambantota Golf Resort & Spa has two restaurants and two bars and lounge areas. Bojunhala, their all-day dining restaurant serves an extensive buffet highlighting Sri Lankan cuisine and even has a separate dining area and menu for kids. Their second restaurant, Sera, offers a selection of comfort food from the streets of Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and China. Ulpotha is the in-house bar that overlooks the golf course and offers a selection of malt whiskies, foreign spirits and snacks. Gimanhala is another open lounge where guests can relax over a cup of tea, a cocktail or even smoke shisha. Their spa, CHI, features a variety of exceptional Chinese and Ayurvedic treatments offered in 12 treatment rooms. They also have three pools, a pool especially for kids with water slides, a free-form pool for families and a 30-metre sunset pool for adults. The hotel has a fully equipped gym, kids and teens club and dedicated play area for kids, a large ballroom for conferences or events and four other small meeting rooms. One of the most unique features at Shangri-La, is their arts and crafts centre, ‘Kadamandiya’ which offers locals artists space to showcase their work as well as use it as a workshop giving them the opportunity to interact with guests directly.
The 18-hole golf course is located amidst a vast coconut plantation and is sectioned off in three landscaped zones to enhance the golfing experience. They also have a pro shop equipped with golfing essentials, and all golf equipment can be hired. In addition, electric buggies can be provided to enhance the comfort of our golfers.
