Residence on Park Street

Introduction

Residence on Park Street is a charming 11-room manor house which was built over 200 years ago and which is now regarded as one of Colombo's best boutique properties. The property has been caringly refurbished maintaining its old world charm while creating a contemporary and informal ambience. The Main House which houses a lounge, the Master Suite, library and a characterful bar; and 10 luxurious Suites are in what used to be an extensive warehouse at the rear of the bungalow. The elegant interiors are decorated with period furniture, local art and black and white photographs. The swimming pool is set between the Main House and the Suites. The hotels is managed by the reputed Uga Escapes which also owns Ulagalla Resort in the Cultural Triangle, Jungle Beach and Uga Bay on the north-east coast and Chena Huts in Yala.

Accommodation

There are 11 elegant Suites of which one is the spacious Grand Suite situated in the Main House. Each Suite consists of a spacious living area, bedroom opening out to a private courtyardand an ensuite bathroom with h/w rain shower. Interiors are spacious and have high ceilings and wooden floors. In-room facilities include a/c, overhead fans, flat screen TV with satellite channels, DVD, iPod dock, complimentary Wifi internet, tea/coffee facility, mini-bar, electronic safe and in-room dining.

Suites (75 sq. metres): The 10 suites open out to a small private garden terrace at the rear and the swimming pool in front.

Grand Suite (176 sq. metres): This spacious suite consists of a bedroom, sitting and dining area and elegantly designed ensuite bathroom. The Grand Suite has its own private garden and verandah for outdoor dining.

Facilities

The lounge area has a colonial feel and is decorated with period furniture and chandeliers. Dine indoors in their a/c restaurant rare by the poolside or in your own Suite. The Residence on Park Street prides itself on its traditional local dishes as well as fusion cuisine prepared with locally available fresh ingredients. A characterful in-house bar features live music on some days. Non-resident guests are also welcome at the bar and restaurant. Other facilities include a library, gym, and swimming pool. The renowned Crown Salon is located just across the road and Spa Ceylon is only a few minutes away. The Residence on Park Street is located a short stroll away from the popular Park Street – a walking street lined with a few cafes, restaurants, shops and a bar with live music. There is also a converted warehouse that hosts many special events including art exhibitions down Park Street.

Residence on Park Street is located down a leafy byroad in the heart of Colombo close to several excellent bars and restaurants in nearby Park Street. The drive from the international airport will take about 50 minutes.
