Introduction
Reef Villa and Spa is one of the closest luxury beach villas on the west coast to Colombo. Owned and designed by a British architect, it is an elegant blend of Sri Lankan manor house architecture and colonial grandeur. Antique Calcutta four-poster beds and ceiling-fixed punkah fans – previously used by the East India Company -- are all tastefully blended with vibrant colours and contemporary touches creating an exotic ambience. Bask in the sun by the poolside, dine under the stars by the sea, or relax in your private terrace while the sun sets into the ocean at this luxury resort.
Accommodation
Reef Villa has seven spacious a/c suites with sitting area and private veranda. All suites are elegantly furnished with: 150-year-old antique four-poster canopied beds dressed in fine linen, originally made for the British Raj and families in the 1840s; antique double wardrobes; writing desk, and lounge chairs and Indian swings on the verandas. Antique electric fans and ceiling-fixed punkahs fans enhance the colonial style. The contemporary hand-crafted Bharta coloured floor-tiles replicate the famous encaustic floor-tiles invented by 12th century monks, a legacy of the magnificent decorative floors which were so popular at the end of the 19th century. The soaring ceilings in all the suites are lined with Kerala terracotta tiles that provide a feeling of relaxed grandeur. Furniture is a combination of original Campaign antique furniture and beautifully crafted pieces based on items used by members of the East India Company.
Ensuite bathrooms are incomparable, with Venetian-style mirrors, freestanding handmade granite bathtubs, twin granite vanity basins and a gorgeous rain shower with handmade granite screen. In suite facilities include TV, DVD Player/CD and radio, complimentary Wi-Fi, IDD telephone, mini-bar, tea/coffee making facilities. Bathrooms have hairdryer, dressing gowns and slippers and luxury Ayurveda complimentary amenities.
