Introduction
Ranna Beach House is ideal for those looking for an escapist modern tropical beach house in a noiseless environment where the only sounds are likely to be the gentle groaning if the waves against the shore. This charming little villa can be found on the long, and lightly-populated, stretch of golden beach near Ranna, to the east of the south-east coastal town of Tangalle. A place to read, recharge and reflect away from the busier beach locations of Sri Lanka. Equipped with three ensuite bedrooms, a living area, an expansive palm garden leading to the beach which is far larger than the average for this type of property and a good-sized outdoor swimming pool with panoramic views of the Indian Ocean.
Accommodation
Three well-appointed bedrooms have a four-poster king size bed, a/c, a private patio and an ensuite bathroom with a rain shower and bathtub. Two Deluxe Rooms with Pool View open up to the pool and beach. There is also a Deluxe Room with Garden View. All rooms have cool cement bathrooms with good facilities.
Facilities
The palm garden is a restful spot to chill on sunny days – lie back on a sunbed or opt for a hammock - and, if the weather turns, the lounge has ample comfy sofas. Sea swimming is not recommended on this part of Sri Lanka’s coast because of high waves and strong currents, but the good-sized swimming pool provides ample recompense. A cook and housekeeper is on call. There is a small river estuary just to the east where the sea meets with a lagoon – a great setting for beautiful sunsets - and, further afield, you are within walking distance up the beach of Rekawa lagoon. Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary is also about 4 kms to the east. A short walk to your right, you will find a beautiful estuary where the sea meets with a vast lagoon. Ranna Beach House is also well placed for Yala Game Park where you can take a safari in search of elephants, leopards and sloth bears.
Why we like it
The size of the palm garden is a real eye opener and gives this tropical villa an extra something.
