Pointe Sud

Introduction

Pointe Sud is one of the best villas in Sri Lanka - a luxurious property set on a four-acre private estate scattered with coconut palms and commanding breathtaking views across Mirissa Bay. It was innovatively designed, built using locally sourced antique window frames, old temple doors, teak floors, and clay tiled roofs, and has exquisite interiors that are a blend of European and Asian styles. The villa is set on a four-acre property with the main villa, garden pavilion and magnificent infinity edge swimming pool located on the cliff top. A series of downhill steps takes you to the foot of the cliff, where there is another pavilion set amidst a garden which has beach access. The sea fronting the villa is not suitable for swimming but the crescent-shaped Mirissa Bay is just a short drive away, which is ideal for swimming and surfing during the season. Pointe Sud is rented exclusively to one party on a villa only basis and can accommodate up to 10 guests – families with children are welcomed. welcomes families with children.

Accommodation

There are five bedrooms of which four are doubles and one is a twin. Four of these rooms are accessed through the living room and open out to garden or sea views. The fifth room is accessed through the gardens and is at a level below. Bedroom interiors are furnished with antique four-poster beds and writing desks. Bedrooms have a/c, overhead fans and ensuite bathrooms with h/w showers.

Facilities

There are several spaces for private relaxation: the beautiful living room with its high pagoda-style roof, the broad veranda which has garden and sea views, and the outdoor pavilions. Dining is wherever you wish – in the dining room or in the gardens – and there is an in-house chef who will prepare delicious Sri Lankan cuisine and seafood specialities using fresh local produce. Discuss your meal preferences ahead of time. There is also a fully-equipped kitchen, TV room with a movie projector, indoor games and toys for children and an extensive library with books and a DVD collection, as well as a long rectangular infinity pool set amidst terraced gardens. Other villa facilities include Wi-Fi, satellite TV, iPod dock, baby high chair and cot (upon request),laundry service, and relaxing massages (with prior notice). The villa is staffed with an excellent chef and housekeeping staff.

Location

Pointe Sud is an exquisite five-bedroom villa set on a clifftop four-acre private estate overlooking the picturesque Mirissa Bay. Mirissa is about 45 minutes away from Galle. The journey from Colombo’s international airport will take three hours. Avoid road travel and hop on board an Air Taxi.
