Introduction

Nyne hotels – Mayur Lodge offers peace and privacy in Tissamaharama, an area where villas are scarce, and is anothe option to consider for Yala national park and the Kataragama temple. The villa has two bedrooms, a swimming pool and a spacious central living and dining area which is open at two sides, allowing for a refreshing tropical breeze to cool the space. Minimalist in design, the interiors are a blend of polished cement, white walls and dark wooden beams which have been shaped to resemble tree trunks. Furnishings are in muted neutral tones, lifted by occasional bright spots of colour, and traditional Asian artefacts add notes of interest to the living area. The villa is surrounded by well-kept gardens, home to the occasional squirrel or peacock, and is fronted by a gate, artfully constructed using cinnamon sticks, which provides added security. The villa is booked as a whole.

Accommodation

Two a/c bedrooms, each fitted with a king-sized bed on a polished cement base and pieces of antique furniture. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w rain shower and complimentary toiletries.

Facilities

Mayur Lodge has an open-plan living and dining space, decorated with comfortable sofas, large dining table and cement breakfast bar area, complete with bar stools. Western and Asian cuisine is available, with an emphasis on local Sri Lankan dishes. BBQs are also available. The villa has a chef who will cook the meals for you in the kitchen, which stands separate to the property at one end of the garden. The kitchen is fitted with an wood-burner stove, providing the authentic smoky tones of traditional Sri Lankan cuisine. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. Relax on a sun lounger by the swimming pool and listen to the sound of tropical bird call whilst gazing out over the rolling gardens and fields beyond.
