Introduction
Nilaveli Beach Resort is a small mid-range holiday retreat with a relaxed beach vibe. The property is set apart from the other guesthouses on this stretch, offering guests plenty of privacy. Opened in 2014, the resort has just eight wooden cabanas on stilts as well as a separate dining cabana, all positioned on the beach. Each of these sturdy cabanas has two air-conditioned double rooms that open out to a private sit-out with picturesque sea views. Enjoy the sun and surf, dine on fresh seafood and take in the simple, unhurried way of life in this remote corner of the island. The beautiful turquoise seas of Nilaveli are safe for swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving from March to September.
Accommodation
There are eight solid timber cabanas on stilts set on the beach. Each of the cabanas has two ensuite double rooms that are 29 sq. metres in size. All 16 bedrooms open out to a private sit-out looking out to the sea. Room interiors are equipped with a/c and an overhead fan, coffee/tea facilities, a mini-bar, a safe and a telephone. Rooms are furnished with a king-sized bed and writing desk. The ensuite bathrooms have h/w rain showers, a hair dryer and toiletries.
Facilities
Dine on Sri Lankan and international cuisine at the Rainbow Lounge. Seafood dishes are a specialty here, prepared with fresh crab, prawns, and fish purchased daily from the local fisherman. There is no swimming pool: instead, you have the Indian Ocean at your door step. Nilaveli Beach Resort has 24-hour room service and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the property.
Why we like it
An appealing beach bar overlooks Nilaveli's white-sand beach which is reminiscent of the Maldives.
