Mountain Heavens

Introduction

Mountain Heavens is an eight-room guesthouse with a spectacular outlook across the Sri Lankan hill country. Perched high on a hillock surrounded by mountain peaks and lush vegetation, it has an enviable spot right in front of Ella Gap and Little Adam's Peak. Relax in your private balcony and capture the beautiful sunsets. The Ella bound train goes by the hotel and is interesting to track it as the red steam engine winds itself around the mountains and gradually disappears. Mountain Heavens is terraced with the dining and lounge areas at the entrance level and rooms located many steps down at different levels. This design provides breathtaking mountain views from each of the rooms and the public areas. Mountain Heavens offers bright and airy rooms with all modern facilities, Sri Lankan cuisine and a peaceful setting.

Note: Due to the steep stairways, Mountain Heavens is not suitable for young children or adults with mobility difficulties.

Accommodation

The eight Deluxe and Superior rooms are at different levels going down hill. Every room has a private balcony or terrace with scenic views of the mountains and Ella gap. The Deluxe Rooms open out to broad balconies while the Superior Rooms located right at the bottom open out to a small rose garden. Room interiors are bright and airy and furnished with king-size beds and lounge chairs. In-room facilities include overhead fans (a/c is not required in this cool climate),a 32 inch flat screen TV with satellite channels, tea/coffee facility, and ensuite bathrooms with bath and h/w shower.

Facilities

The main dining area and lounge at the entrance level has spectacular views of the Ella Gap and waterfall. An infinity pool adds to the charm, although it can be a bit nippy this high in the mountains. Tasty Sri Lankan rice and curries are served here for lunch and a choice of grilled meats or curries for dinner. A continental breakfast is on offer with freshly baked bread which is brought each morning from Ella town. Mountain Heavens has wifi in the reception area and room service.

Location

Mountain Heavens has spectacular views of Ella Gap and the Bambaragama water falls in the Southern Highlands. Ella is about 3,300 ft above sea level and can be reached via Ratnapura or Nuwara Eliya. Mountain Heavens is conveniently located close to the Ella railway station. The town of Bandarawela is just half and hour away and Haputale is one hours drive.
