Introduction
Surrounded by restaurants and cafes in a residential hub of Colombo, Maniumpathy is a palatial eight-bedroom colonial villa which was home to five generations of one of the most distinguished families in Colombo. With a vibrant history spanning over 100 years, Maniumpathy radiates old-world splendour with elaborate Victorian architecture, complemented by luxuries of the modern world. The main living area has charming, cosy interiors and sits between a dining room and a courtyard with a pool which paves the way to the suites. Maniumpathy accepts children aged 7 years and above.
Accommodation
Maniumpathy has eight suites, each named after a woman from different generations of the family.
Annapuranie Suite (54 m2): Named after the grand matriarch of the family, this ground floor Master suite has a private lounge that can double as an extra double room, a king-sized canopy bed, changing room and bathroom with bath and shower with a private garden.
Chrysanthi Suite (47 m2): This family suite is located close to the main dining area. The room includes a mezzanine floor that can be used as an extra double room or lounge. Furnished with a colonial king-sized bed, bathroom has a shower.
Cynthia and Ranee Suites (47 m2): Located on the first floor, these suites have balconies overlooking the central courtyard and pool. Furnished with four-poster beds and a day bed, which can accommodate an extra person or a child. Spacious bathrooms have ‘his and hers’ wash basins, bath tub and shower.
Vasanthi and Anithra Suites (47 m2): These two ground floor suites have a private garden, king-sized bed and spacious bathroom with ‘his and hers’ wash basin, bath tub and shower.
Soundhari and Poornam Suites (32 m2): Referred to as deluxe rooms, these are comparative smaller in size, furnished with queen-sized four-poster bed and open air bathroom with shower.
All suites are tastefully furnished with complementary furniture, a cable TV, wardrobe space and coffee and tea making facilities.
Facilities
Their restaurant, ‘The Nandi’, is set in the courtyard overlooking the pool and serves a selection of international cuisine and local fare with a hint of Jaffna flavour. It can accommodate up to 30 guests. For those interested in a fine dining experience, treat yourself to a meal at the ‘Grand Ebony’ room, which can seat up to 16 people on a grand ebony table and is dimly lit with antique crystal chandeliers and crystal candelabra. There is also a pool.
