Le Grand

Introduction

Le Grand is a luxurious mid-sized hotel sitting just outside the famous Galle Fort of Sri Lanka, offering views of the Fort from a very different perspective. Literally five minutes from the Galle town, Le Grand is the closest traditional hotel to the Galle Fort and comes complete with plenty of space and amenities.

From the sizeable lobby sporting peeks of the historic beacon of Galle, to the plush and thoughtfully furnished rooms, Le Grand proves to be an accommodating and pleasant dwelling. Take a dip in the ocean or ride a bike through the paddy fields; the location offers plenty for an avid traveller.

Accommodation

The 57 rooms housed on three levels of Le Grand are all spacious, have at least partial sea views and come furnished with minibar, tea/coffee making facilities, safe, espresso machine, bathrobes, and a flat-screen TV which can also play most radio stations from across the world. All room floors are covered with soothing colours of wooden panelling combined with carpets. Each room has an attached bathroom with h/w and rain shower including complimentary toiletries, hairdryer and towels. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.

Deluxe Rooms: Placed by one side of the swimming pool and on a slightly lower level, these rooms have a small terrace where guests can relax. One extra bed can be added in if required.

Super Deluxe Rooms: Located on the 2nd floor, each of the 34 Super Deluxe Rooms are spacious and can accommodate an extra bed if needed. Step onto the balcony for breath-taking views of the beach and Fort. The attached bathroom consists of a bathtub as well as a shower. Interconnecting rooms are available on request.

Premium Rooms: These extremely spacious rooms on the 3rd floor come with a sitting area as well as a luxurious spa tub. An extra bed can be added if needed. The Premium Rooms also have a balcony.

Plunge Pool Suites: Offering generous amounts of space, the Plunge Pool Suites include a large living area and have a private garden facing the sea. There is also a private plunge pool in addition to the indoor and outdoor showers, these suites are the ultimate luxury here at Le Grand. Three adults and two children can be occupies in these suites.

Facilities

Le Grand provides facilities such as laundry services and valet parking and has a wine cellar, spa, a beautiful pool overlooking the Indian Ocean, and a gym.

Being a hop, step and a jump from the Galle Fort and the Galle town, there is much on offer for guests at Le Grand. From river safaris and hikes to whale watching and biking through the countryside, there’s plenty that can be arranged.

The hotel offers a variety in terms of dining: Blue and Taste both serve international cuisine indoors and the poolside restaurant, Dip, is best for cocktails and snacks. The hotel can also arrange special dining experiences in different locations of the hotel.

Why We Like It

A waterfront location, a large pool and contemporary rooms offer a different flavour on the edge of Galle Fort.

Sustainability

Le Grand promotes energy and water-saving while also encouraging guests and staff alike to separate their waste. Menus can be accessed via QR codes, and the hotel readily provides information on how guests can be more responsible as travellers.

Location

Le Grand is an appealing mid-range hotel which could not be more convenient for exploring the many pleasures of Galle Fort. The journey from Colombo will take about two hours.
