Lakeview Villa

Introduction

Lakeview Villa is a four-bedroom villa which occupies a beautiful spot on the edge of Koggala Lake, just 10 minutes from the beach and a short drive from historic Galle Fort. The one-and-a-half acres of lush gardens and cinnamon fields beyond attract a variety of wildlife, and hours can be spend simply lying in the sun and gazing at your beautiful surroundings. The 50ft infinity pool commands uninterrupted lake views. The villa itself is two-story, with timber floors, ornately carved doors and windows made of recycled wood, and houses Dutch-period antiques and local art and sculptures. Colourful sari fabrics brighten up the bedrooms. This villa is rented exclusively, not by the room, and can accommodate up to 8 guests. The games room is popular with families.

Accommodation

There are four ensuite bedrooms set at different levels of the villa. The two double bedrooms, including a spacious master bedroom, are on the upper floor. A third bedroom is by the swimming pool, with the final bedroom looking out to the gardens – both of these rooms have twin beds. All bedrooms have lake views, air-conditioning and overhead fans, and antique four-poster beds fitted with mosquito netting. The ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers.

Facilities

Dining takes place on the ground floor verandah which has a ten-seater table. You can do your own cooking in the fully equipped kitchen or have the in-house cook prepare Sri Lankan dishes or western favourites – she is an exceptional cook and will be happy to share her traditional recipes with you, or take you to the village market when she is buying groceries. Do let us know in advance of any food intolerances that need to be catered for. All meals at Lake View are given at cost. BYO alcohol. Facilities include an a/c cinema room with DVD player and hundreds of DVDs, a library and WiFi in the office. The villa is staffed with a cook, housekeeper, gardener and security.

A wonderful spot - we particularly love to loll in the infinity pool and look down upon the view over Koggala Lake.

Location

Lakeview lies at the edge of Koggala Lake, about 10 minutes inland from the Galle Coast and a 20-minute drive from Galle’s17C Dutch Fort. The villa’s lakeside setting and the trees in the lush garden attract a variety of birds, making this a great choice for nature-lovers.
