Kottukal Beach House by Jetwing

Introduction

Kottukal Beach House is the only boutique villa in Arugam Bay. Opened in 2013, the two-acre property is edged by the sea on two sides and the Pottuvil Lagoon is visible in the distance. The house is designed with a central courtyard and an encircling veranda, where meals are served with the ocean in full view. This two-storey villa offers luxurious accommodation, Sri Lankan and Western cuisine, a personalised service and a peaceful beach setting. Kottukal Beach House can be booked by the room and can accommodate up to eight guests. Families with children are welcome. The property is managed by the Jetwing group, a premier travel and leisure company who own several luxurious hotels across the country.

Accommodation

The ground floor has two double rooms which have terraces that open out to the gardens. They are somewhat separate from the main house and feel more like individual chalets. The other two bedrooms have private balconies and are located on the upper floor. All bedrooms have spectacular sea views and are tastefully furnished with king-sized four-poster beds fitted with mosquito netting, lounge chairs and a writing desk. Room facilities include A/C and an overhead fan, a safety deposit box and Wi-Fi. All rooms have an ensuite bathroom with h/w rain shower.

Facilities

Meals are a treat here: enjoy traditional Sri Lankan or Western cuisine on the beach, in the garden or on your veranda. Seafood dishes are a speciality – fresh crab, prawns and fish are purchased directly from the local fisherman. Other facilities include: a cosy lounge equipped with a satellite TV, DVD player and DVD library and room and laundry services. Relaxing massages are also on offer, as is yoga (with prior notice).
