Introduction

Kings Pavilion is a nine-bedroom boutique hotel in a quiet residential area of Kandy, surrounded by greenery and birdlife, Kings Pavilion is a nine-bedroom boutique hotel. Spread across three acres with a large garden overlooking the Hunnasgiriya and Knuckles mountain range, this contemporary style hotel blends in seamlessly with its environment providing guests a comfortable place to relax.

At the entrance, guests are greeted by an elaborate yet colourful batik wall hanging carefully crafted by Ena De Silva’s workshop in Matale, where guests can settle in while they are checked-in. From there, they can either proceed to the lobby, a snug area furnished with sofas or the lounge area facing the garden to take in the scenery.

Kings Pavilion is split into three pavilions: main pavilion, lower and upper pavilion – each has several categories of rooms that are named after different areas that make up the Kandy district.

Accommodation

Kings Pavilion has 3 Deluxe rooms, 4 Junior suites and a King and Queen suite – each tastefully designed highlighting Kandyan art, paintings and photographs.

The main pavilion houses the 3 Standard rooms and the King suite, the lower pavilion located on the right side of the garden has 2 Junior Suites on two levels and the upper pavilions situated close to the entrance has the Queen and two Junior suite.

All rooms are air-conditioned with an overhead fan, furnished with a wardrobe, writing table, cable TV and minibar facilities with private balcony or terrace.

Deluxe rooms - Kotmale, Bulathgama and Hewaheta The Standard rooms have a king-sized bed with the exception of Bulathgama located in the main pavilion which has twin beds, and the ensuite bathroom has h/w shower and complimentary toiletries.

Junior suites – Dumbara, Harispattu, Udunuwara and Yatinuwara With the exception of Yatinuwara which has two queen-sized beds, located in the upper pavilion, all Junior suites have king-sized canopy beds. These rooms are spacious, furnished with living room chairs and the ensuite bathroom has twin wash basins, a jacuzzi tub and a separate h/w shower cubicle. While Yatinuwara is best for a family of four, all Junior suites can accommodate an extra bed.

King and Queen Suite – Referred to as Kanda Udarata These are the largest suites in the hotel and have a separate furnished sitting area, the bedroom has a king-sized canopy and a separate balcony with a lounge area where guests can enjoy an evening cup of tea or relax with a book. The ensuite bathrooms have twin wash basins, a jacuzzi tub and h/w shower cubicle.

Facilities

The distant mountain range serves as the backdrop of the hotel’s 40ft and 4ft deep infinity pool surrounded by sundecks. The hotel also has a small spa which can cater to two people at a time and hope to conduct yoga lessons in the garden in the coming months. The restaurant serves a combination of delicious Sri Lankan and continental dishes and they also plan on opening up a small bar area at the lobby soon.

Location

Kings Pavilion is in Aniwatte, 10 minutes from Kandy town. The hotel is 3.5 hrs from the Colombo Airport; alternatively you can also hop on board a sea plane from Colombo to Polgolla, which is a 30 minute drive from the property.
