Kalukanda House

Introduction

Kalukanda House is a charming five-bedroom villa in a lush tropical garden in Weligama on Sri Lanka’s South Coast. Minutes from a beautiful beach, the villa is a holiday home of a London-based family. Kalukanda combines elements of colonial architecture complemented with modern luxuries to create a hideaway for families who are looking to take some time out of their busy lives. The villa has a spacious wraparound veranda which includes a dining area that overlooks a blue-hued pool and a verdant garden teeming with numerous plants and flowers.

The living area is furnished with antique pieces and a comfortable divan and is accessible from several entrances through the veranda providing a flow of constant breeze, keeping the room cool. One of the four rooms is located on the ground floor while the remaining are on the upper floor. Kalukanda House can be booked only in its entirety.

Accommodation

Kalukanda House has three double bedrooms, one twin and a single room. The double bedrooms are furnished with four-poster canopy beds fitted with mosquito nets. They have an additional z-bed for children which is available on request. The bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms with h/w showers. The rooms on the upper floor have access to a private balcony. The villa has Wi-Fi.

Facilities

In terms of meals, breakfast is included in the rate and the chef can be called to the villa upon an agreed time to prepare lunch and dinner. The chef can cook up a selection of western and Sri Lankan dishes and will accommodate requests whenever possible. Guests can bring in their own alcohol or speak to the villa manager who can make arrangements to purchase it for you. The villa also has cable TV, books and games. In addition to the pool, the villa manager can also organize a trained yoga teacher or masseuse on request.
