Hibiscus Garden

Introduction

Hibiscus Garden is a welcoming guesthouse situated amidst extensive tropical gardens in Tissamaharama in the deep south. Its 16 well-appointed rooms are housed in four separate chalets, surrounding the swimming pool. The main building houses the lounge area on the ground floor and an open sided restaurant on the upper floor overlooking lush green paddy fields. One third of the extensive gardens here is wilderness attracting numerous species of birds and dragon flies. Hibiscus Garden organizes bird watching trails accompanied by a local birding specialist.

Accommodation

The 20 ensuite bedrooms are housed in five separate chalets. Bedrooms open out to a small private veranda overlooking the gardens. Interiors are spacious and are furnished with double beds. In-room facilities include a/c, overhead fans and mini-bar. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers.

Facilities

Traditional Sri Lankan rice and curries and western cuisine is served in the main restaurant. The swimming pool is ideal for cooling off after a day’s excursion to the jungles. Other hotel facilities include cable TV, Wi-Fi, room service, and guided birding trails in Tissamaharama.

Location

Hibiscus Garden is located off the main Tissa – Kataragama road and is set away from the main tourist trail, yet close enough to experience Tissa’s ancient heritage, the jungle shrine of Kataragama which is about 30 minutes away, and Yala National Park, about 40 minutes.
