Introduction
Hanthana House is a laid-back homestay experience where the Sri Lankan owners share their simple home with guests, providing comfortable accommodation and authentic local cuisine. The house is built on a small plot of land hugging the mountain scape, and the bedrooms and dining area sit at different levels. From the entrance, steps downhill lead you to their small living room and further down the slope are the bedrooms, all of which open out to balconies with spectacular mountain views. The house provides guests with a warm and welcoming holiday setting that is much sought-after. Due to the steep stairways, Hanthana House is not recommended for children or adults with mobility difficulties. A winding uphill roadway leads you to this welcoming private home set amidst a peaceful and scenic setting.
Accommodation
There are two double rooms at one level opening out to a broad balcony with mountain views. The other two rooms are one twin and a triple, which sit at the lowest level of the property and have a balcony with forest views. Bedrooms are comfortably-furnished with queen-sized four-poster beds, fitted with mosquito netting, and wardrobes. Beds are dressed in crisp white linen. Fans and the cooling hill country breeze help to keep the rooms comfortable. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers.
Facilities
The small dining room and open kitchen is an ideal place to get to know other guests. The cook takes pride in her traditional Kandyan cuisine and is happy to share her recipes with the guests. For those wanting to catch up with news from back home, there is a computer and Wi-Fi in the living room and cable TV in the dining area.
