Galle Henna Estate

Introduction

Galle Henna Estate is a striking manor house on a peaceful fruit estate on the outskirts of the upmarket beach settlement of Thalpe. This five-bedroom manor house lies on an extensive terraced estate with wonderful views of paddy fields. The gardens are filled with mahogany, king coconut and mango and attract numerous birds. This manor house is fully equipped and elegantly decorated with South Asian antiques and tapestries. It comfortably sleeps up to nine guests and children are welcome. A minimum stay of two nights during low season; three nights during high season; and six nights during peak season is required.

Accommodation

There are five ensuite bedrooms of which two are on the ground floor and three on the upper floor. Some of the bedrooms have a/c. The high roofs and overhead ceiling fans help to keep the rooms cool. Ensuite bathrooms have bathtubs and h/w showers.

Ground Floor Suites: Two spacious ground floor suites (one with a/c) have antique four-poster double beds. The suites open out to the front garden and croquet lawn with views of the swimming pool and paddy fields. Each suite has a lounging area and spacious ensuite bathrooms with black and white chequered floors, h/w shower, bathtub, washbasin, and w/c.

First Floor Suites: There are three rooms on the first floor. The Master Suite has a/c, double bed and lounging area and is ideal for a family. A cot is available upon request. Next door is a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom. There is an option of adjoining the two bedrooms. The third is a single bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. All rooms open out to private balconies with spectacular views.

Facilities

The ground floor living rooms is furnished with plush sofas and has a bar area, work desk with internet, a library, iPod station, TV and DVD player. The adjoining dining area opens out to the back garden. There is a well-equipped kitchen. The staff is trained in Sri Lankan and Western cuisine and will gladly assist with grocery shopping as well as preparation of meals. The swimming pool has a lounging area equipped with recliners and tables where snacks or romantic candlelit dinners are served upon request. With prior notice, traditional Ayurvedic massages, aromatherapy, reflexology and bespoke massages are arranged outdoors by the poolside or in the gardens amidst tranquil surroundings.

Location

The journey from Colombo’s International Airport to Thalpe will take approximately 2.5 hours via the Southern highway or take the Air Taxi and fly to nearby Koggala. If you are then heading from the coast into the hills, we offer competitive rates on a daily sea plane between Koggala and Hatton.
