Introduction
Forest Edge is a four-bedroom retreat set on a working Sri Lanka tea plantation edged by a pine forest and surrounded by mountains. With its comfortable a/c rooms and spectacular setting, it is a welcome addition to the Kitulgala area where much accommodation is in basic guesthouses and rustic eco-retreats. It is situated on a terraced hill with the parking lot at the ground level, lounge and restaurant at a level above, and the bedrooms and swimming pool at the top. The upper levels are reached via a winding, uphill walkway edged by a cascading stream, and enjoy stunning views of the tea plantation and surrounding landscape. Forest Edge offers guided nature trails and bird watching, and is 30 minutes away from the thrilling white water rafting at Kitulgala.
Accommodation
Four spacious double rooms open onto the swimming pool at one end whilst a broad balcony skirts round the other. Rooms are well-furnished with king-sized bed, sofa that can be converted into a single bed, and wardrobe. In-room facilities include a/c, overhead fans, satellite TV and tea/coffee facilities. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers, hair dryer and toiletries.
Facilities
Sri Lankan and western cuisine is served in the main restaurant, along with fresh juices, tea and coffee. All can be ordered to your room and enjoyed on the balcony whilst gazing at the mountains. Cool off with a dip in the swimming pool or the river that flows by. There is also room service and Wi-Fi in the restaurant, and guided nature trails and tea plantation walks are on offer.
