Introduction
Ferncliff is a charming Nuwara Eliya heritage property with four bedrooms, caringly maintained as a holiday home for generations. It boasts extensive gardens flanked by Mount Pedro (Piduratalagala) - Sri Lanka’s tallest, perfect for children to play in safety. The bungalow has a cozy lounge, with fireplace; four spacious bedrooms opening out to garden views, and a dining area looking out to a courtyard and mountain views. Interiors blend colonial period antiques and modern touches; soft furnishings in vibrant handlooms and muted batiks on silk; and black and white photographs of bygone days. Ferncliff has an informal feel and can be booked by the room or as a whole bungalow, accommodating up to eight guests.
Accommodation
The four bedrooms are spacious and furnished with twin or king-size beds, wardrobe and planter’s chairs. The bedrooms also have a sitting area with views across the gardens and are equipped with satellite TV and electric heaters which can be used on cool nights. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers.
Facilities
Meals are served in the dining room or in the attractive garden. Ferncliff serves Sri Lankan as well as western dishes, home baked cakes, desserts, fresh juices, and a range of Ceylon teas. The chef plans a daily menu based on freshly-available garden and market produce. The rear courtyard leads to the vegetables gardens with Mount Pedro looming over. Learn to cook Sri Lankan curries with the chef. Other facilities include wifi, croquet and bicycles to explore the town.
