Ekho Ella

Introduction

Unparalleled views of the dramatic Ella Gap, an expansive valley that has breathtaking, long-range views all the way to the south coast, makes Ekho Ella one of the best accommodation options in town. The interior of the property is strikingly themed around the iconic railway line, climaxed by Ella’s Nine Arch Bridge which the British envisaged, and Sri Lankans delivered, immediately after World War 1: room décor includes historic photographs, oil lamp-style bedside lights and carriage-like seating. Almost all of the rooms have spectacular views, and the Junior Suites go the extra mile with the addition of an outdoor Jacuzzi on the balcony. A large lawn sits at the back of the property, scattered with tables and chairs and fronted by shaded sofas which look out to the panoramic vista, and there is also an indoor restaurant and fully-stocked bar.

Accommodation

There are 14 rooms at Ekho Ella, split into three categories: Superior Room; Deluxe Room, and Junior Suite.

Superior Room: Of the four superior rooms, two are downstairs and open out to the lawn whilst the other two are found on the top floor and have panoramic views. The rooms are on the compact side but well-furnished, with a double bed or twin beds, TV, fan, a/c, wardrobe, mini-fridge and electronic safe. The ensuite bathrooms have a h/w shower, sink and w/c.

Deluxe Room: The eight deluxe rooms are as above but with the addition of a separate seating area by the window. They are also slightly more spacious and all are enhanced by views across the Ella Gap.

Junior Suite: There are two junior suites, both of which have the addition of an enclosed patio area replete with table, chairs and a Jacuzzi from which you can sit back and soak in the views.

Facilities

There is a large indoor restaurant area and fully-stocked bar, and afternoon tea can be enjoyed on the lawn which is furnished with plenty of tables and chairs. The surrounding area is great for walking, from the gentle Little Adam’s Peak ascent to the more challenging Ella Rock hike – not forgetting, of course, to the visit to the railway-inspired Nine Arch Bridge.
