Earl's Regency

Introduction

Earl’s Regency is regarded as Kandy's most well-appointed traditional hotel. It is spread over 16 acres of landscaped gardens and occupies a peaceful setting by the Mahaweli River. The hotel is designed with pagoda-shaped roofs and a long overhead bridge that links the main hotel wing and the new wing. The main hotel wing consists of the reception area, restaurant, bar and an executive floor with conference facilities and executive suites. The new wing consists of the deluxe rooms, spa and the garden restaurant. Earl’s Regency has a slght business feel in its public areas but there is also plenty to keep children entertained while adults relax by the poolside or rejuvenate with a massage at the Coco Spa. Earl’s Regency provides a peaceful holiday experience away from the hustle and bustle of Kandy, yet is close enough to experience Kandy’s ancient cultural heritage. Accommodation

There are 116 well-appointed rooms and suites with private balconies which have either mountain views or river views. The rooms are categorized as Deluxe, Premium, Luxury and Family. The luxurious suites are more spacious and are categorised as Junior Suites, Luxury Suites and the roomy Mountbatten Suite.

The rooms and suites are spread across the main building, the Knuckles Wing and the South Wing. All rooms are furnished with double beds, a writing desk and a couch. In room facilities includes a/c and an overhead fan, satellite TV, IDD, a minibar and tea/coffee facilities, an electronic safe and a hairdryer. Wi-Fi is available as well as 24-hour room service and laundry service. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers, bath tubs or Jacuzzis. Cots for babies are provided upon request.

Facilities

Aitken Spence hotels are well regarded for their sumptuous cuisine and Earl’s Regency carries through with this tradition, serving an array of Sri Lankan and international dishes prepared with fresh produce purchased locally. The Far Pavilion restaurant serves international buffets while the Coffee Shop restaurant offers light snacks, and guests should dine at the Royal Spice for an authentic experience of Indian cuisine. There are several bars serving a variety of alcoholic beverages. The international Coco Spa chain runs the spa here with experienced Balinese therapists and offers a range of rejuvenating massages, body scrubs, and beauty treatments. The meandering swimming pool has a corner built for children to wade around in and there is also a separate play area for children and baby sitting services (with prior notice). Other hotel facilities include a floodlit tennis court, squash courts, badminton, gymnasium, cycling (mountain bikes available),table tennis, billiards/snooker, shopping arcade, and evening entertainment including traditional Kandyan dance performances.
