Cove House

Introduction

Cove House, a refurbished old southern home in Dickwella Bay on Sri Lanka's south coast, has been brought back to life by its American owner. This three-bedroom villa and the gardens spread across two acres and havespectacular sea views. Cove House is designed with cooling polished cement floors, high timber roofs, and a spacious verandah that skirts around - ideal for barefoot living by the sea. In 2013 a second, two-bedroom villa was added on the same property called Little Cove which opens out to garden views. Interiors are tastefully infused with colour and decorated with art from Sri Lanka and overseas. Spend your days with a good book and a cup of tea on the verandah; or take in the sun by the infinity pool. For the more active, there is surfing, scuba diving and whale and dolphin spotting excursions on offer nearby. The sea immediately in front of the villa is safe for swimming and snorkelling during the season from December to April. Cove House and Little Cove can accommodate upto 10 guests and is booked on a villa only basis.

Accommodation

There are five well appointed bedrooms all with a/c and overhead fans. Interiors are well furnished with four poster beds fitted with mosquito netting. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers.

Cove House: Has two double rooms opening on to the verandah with sea views and the third is a twin room (which can be made into a double) that opens on to a small courtyard.

Little Cove: Set further into the gardens, this villa has two ensuite double rooms. One bedroom is equipped with satellite TV.

Facilities

The Cove House living room opens on to the verandah and the gardens and is equipped with cable TV, DVD player, iPod dock, Bose sound system and board games. There is a library/study with a collection of interesting books and wifi. Dining is on the verandah or by the poolside. Prepare your own meals in the well equipped kitchen or have the in-house chef do the grocery shopping and cook tasty meals for you. Guests are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages. A relaxing Ayurvedic massage can be arranged with prior notice. Cove House and the Little Cove each has its own swimming pool to ensure guests enjoy their privacy. The Cove House has a manager, chef and housekeeper who will ensure you have a relaxing holiday.

Location

Cove House is perched on a hillock overlooking picturesque Dickwella Bay. The journey from Colombo’s international airport will take approximately four hours. Avoid road travel and hop on board a sea plane from Colombo and land at Mawella Lagoon, just 15 minutes away from Cove House.
