Introduction

Cinnamon Citadel, formerly known simply as The Citadel, is one of Kandy's leading traditional hotels. Designed by Sri Lankan architect Channa Daswatte, the property taps into Kandy’s ancient heritage blended expertly with modern living. Enter through the gleaming white reception area surrounded with hand-woven Kandyan Dumbara murals and enjoy the incredible views of the picturesque Mahaweli River. Days begin to the sound of birdsong and perhaps a warm mist rolling away from the river. Cinnamon Citadel offers some of the most luxurious rooms that Kandy has to offer, traditional Sri Lankan cuisine with iconic Kandyan flavours and a peaceful riverside setting.

Accommodation

There are 119 bedrooms and suites with private balconies which have, garden or river views. Bedroom interiors are contemporary in style and blend modern fittings and furniture with vibrant colours of red, mustard, and crimson which represents Kandyan royalty. Standard in-room facilities include a/c and overhead fan, flat screen TV with satellite channels, IDD telephone, mini-bar and tea/coffee facilities, safe, room service and laundry service. In addition to the standard facilities, the Deluxe Rooms and Suites offer a DVD player, bathtub and bathrobe and slippers. All rooms have ensuite bathroom with h/w shower.

Superior Rooms (423 sq. ft): The 93 Superior Rooms are located on both wings and offer garden or river views.

Deluxe Rooms (562 sq. ft): The 24 Deluxe Rooms are more spacious and are located in the new wing. Private balconies have garden or river views.

Suites: The two luxurious suites consist of a separate living and dining area and a bedroom opening out to spectacular views of the winding Mahaweli River.

Facilities

The spacious main restaurant – aptly named Panorama – offers indoor dining or al fresco style on the terrace with spectacular views of the Mahaweli River. Sri Lankan and international cuisine is served buffet-style. Café C, a fine dining restaurant set by the poolside overlooking the river, offers a refined ambience and superior cuisine. Indulge in a chilled beer or a sunset cocktail at the lobby bar. The swimming pool is set on a broad sun terrace where you can enjoy the spectacular sunsets beyond the hills. Indoor games including snooker and table tennis, and board games are available for a rainy day. Other hotel facilities include Wi-Fi and conference and banquet facilities.
