Introduction

Cantaloupe House is an exquisitely updated tropical retreat less than a mile inland from the golden surfing beaches of Ahangama and boasts a stylish, go-slow ambience ideal for a relaxed getaway. This traditional Sri Lankan walawwa has been converted into a chic boutique hotel with abundant, well-tended gardens surrounding the property. It is far enough from bustling beach strips of the south coast to possess its own rural atmosphere, yet close enough to enjoy the waves.

Accommodation

Cantaloupe House offers three types of rooms: Superior, Deluxe and Suite. Decked out in soothing shades, all rooms come with contemporary amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. Traditional architecture of the walawwa is complemented by a well-judged contemporary interior that adds a splash of colour. The property can be rented on a room basis as well as a single unit.

Superior: The two superior rooms can be arranged either as double rooms or standard twin rooms. These two superior rooms are simple and cosy. In-room facilities include A/C, hair dryers and complimentary Wi-Fi. Each room has an indoor bathroom with an outdoor rainfall shower surrounded by tropical plants.

Deluxe: The three deluxe rooms are strikingly spacious. Adorned with light and warm shades, they are are simple and elegant. Each deluxe room comes furnished with a king-sized four-poster bed fitted with mosquito nets. In-room facilities include A/C, an overhead fan, a safe, hair dryers and complimentary Wi-Fi. There is also a small seating area. The ensuite bathroom is equipped with a jetted bathtub and rainwater shower.

Suite: The suite of Cantaloupe House, located on the first floor, is regal in its appearance with its soothing tones and lavish wooden interior. The intricate lattice that stands next to the king-sized four-poster bed separates the bed space from the dressing and bathroom space. The dressing area comes with a full-length mirror and two large closets. As with all the other rooms, the suite also has a well-appointed ensuite bathroom that comes equipped with a twin vanity as well as a large bathtub. A rainwater shower is also set amidst tropical plants.

Facilities

The beautiful pool at Cantaloupe House cries out for hours of lap swimming. Yoga and Ayurveda wellness sessions are offered to sooth the senses and rejuvenate the body. The hotel provides wellness routines that can be practised even after your vacation is over. The main living area of the hotel houses a small library. If you do not fancy heading outdoors, you can play board games in the living area. Just a few minutes away from the hotel is a secluded beach strip with only the gentle lap of waves on golden sands, and the occasional thud of coconut.

Cantaloupe House provides delicious homemade meals and in-house chefs are happy to customise your dishes on request. Suite and Deluxe categories are offered in-room dining facilities. There are also BBQ facilities on the picnic lawn.
