Introduction

Boutique 87 is one the many attractive options in Sri Lanka's popular west coast coastal town of Bentota, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main road that winds its way from Colombo to Galle behind large parapet walls and numerous trees, is the last residence of Sri Lanka’s most iconic architect – Geoffrey Bawa. The gates open on to a meticulously maintained 17-acre estate that leads from one spacious lawn to another and even has a private lake in a secluded area of the property.

The two-bedroom bungalow showcases Bawa’s signature architectural style of tropical modernism and seamlessly blends in nature and architecture together. Each of the two suites are well-appointed with period-styled furnishing and some designed by Bawa himself. The bungalow has an 18th century pavilion which overlooks the garden furnished with a coffee table and armchairs so guests can enjoy a cup of tea or read a book with full views of the lawn.

The upstairs features a large living area and a balcony that affords a panoramic view of the estate. Access to the property is by a small step and it is easily accessible by wheelchair. As common areas and rooms are on the ground floor, this villa is a good option for people with mobility difficulties.

Boutique 87 can been booked in its entirety or the suites can be booked separately. The villa only welcomes guests above the age of 18 years.

Accommodation

The bungalow has two spacious air-conditioned suites, each furnished with a double bed in crisp white with mosquito netting and complimentary furniture. The room comes with a sitting room that allows guests to enjoy the light and garden from indoors and ensuite bathroom.

Facilities

The villa has a private lap pool, gardens that lead from one to another and a private lake. Boutique 87 operates on full board basis and guests are served a variety of Sri Lankan dishes which they can enjoy in the gardens or in a private area and have the option of choosing beer, wine and local spirits. Complimentary Wi-Fi in common areas and in the rooms.
