Introduction
Bay Villas is a stylish three-suite property overlooking the ocean in Balapitiya on Sri Lanka’s south-west coast. Its modern exterior gives way to elegant interiors vibrantly decorated with rich colours, local artwork and warm fabrics, with plenty of spots for quiet reading over a cup of coffee. You can also relax by the good-sized swimming pool in the pretty gardens, or at one of the dining tables on the ocean-view veranda. A perfect property for those seeking peace and privacy away from the crowds. Bay Villas can be rented by the room or in its entirety. A sister property of the highly-regarded Dutch House in Bandarawela.
Accommodation
Each of the three a/c suites is two-storey and set well apart from the others, ideal for those who seek privacy during their holiday. The ground floor is a laidback area with comfortable seating, a dining table and veranda, whilst the upper floor houses the sleeping area, ensuite bathroom and has a balcony with seats. Both floors provide beautiful ocean views. Two of the rooms, Aralu and Erabadu, are furnished with a king-sized bed, and Erabadu has the addition of a bathtub. Kokum is furnished with twin beds.
Facilities
An open-sided veranda by the swimming pool acts as the main dining area, or guests can choose to dine in their own room. Guests can also watch traditional Sri Lankan dishes being made at private cooking demonstrations in the small wattle-and-daub hut in the garden. The beach in front of the hotel is not safe for swimming, but several safe beach spots are close by. For children and weak swimmers, we recommend sticking to the swimming pool
