Introduction
Anantara Kalutara Resort is a stunning hotel offering 141 rooms with views of the Indian Ocean and the Kalu Ganga River. Inspired by the designs drafted by Sri Lanka’s iconic architect, Geoffrey Bawa, and furnished and decorated with some of the world's best materials and ornaments, the resort is a luxurious sanctuary.
Guests are welcomed through a pathway that leads to a large open space that serves as the concierge, lobby and a common area where guests can relax.
Accommodation
The 141 luxurious rooms at Anantara Kalutara come in four types: Premier Garden View room, Deluxe Lagoon View room, Deluxe Ocean View room and Deluxe Poolside room. The suites and villas are categorised as One Bedroom Ocean View suite, One Bedroom Anantara suite, One Bedroom Presidential Pool suite, One Bedroom Pool villa and Two Bedroom Pool villa.
All rooms, suites and villas are air-conditioned and come with a king-sized bed or twin beds with a lavish ensuite bathroom with a rain shower and separate bathtub. The rooms also have coffee/tea making facilities, safe, walk-in closet, flat screen television with cable channels, Wi-Fi, mini bar and wine humidor.
Deluxe Ocean View room – 60 square metre room with a separate balcony or terrace fitted with outdoor furniture overlooking the Indian Ocean. The room can accommodate up to 3 adults. Interconnecting rooms are available.
Premier Garden View, Deluxe Lagoon View and Deluxe Poolside rooms – 65 square metre room with a balcony or terrace area with outdoor furniture overlooking the garden, lagoon and poolside respectively. It can accommodate 3 adults and interconnecting rooms are available.
One-bedroom Anantara suite – 110 square metres with a lounge area, master bedroom and a luxury bathroom.
One-bedroom Presidential suite – 110 square metres with a lounge area, master bedroom and spacious ensuite bathroom. This suite has its own private plunge pool with sundeck and loungers.
One-bedroom Pool villa – 170 square metres space includes a sitting area on one side and the master room on the other side and the pathway leads to a private garden with a plunge pool surrounded by sundecks. Interconnecting villas are available.
Two-bedroom Pool villa – this spacious 190 square metre villa includes two bedrooms, one with a king-sized bed and the other with twin beds. The villa has two ensuite bathrooms with a separate bathtub and walk-in shower. The villa also has sitting rea and a private garden with a plunge pool with sun loungers.
Facilities
Anantara Kalutara has three restaurants: Olu – the all-day dining restaurant offers a variety of flavours from across the world. Acquolina offers the finest of Italian dishes from the freshest pasta to pizzas prepared in wood-fired ovens and Spice Traders specialises in Asian cuisine serving the best of Thai, Indian and Chinese dishes. In addition, they also have an Upper Deck which is ideal for sundowner cocktails and tapas in the evenings. The hotel also has a dedicated library for Geoffrey Bawa, featuring some of his drawings and a variety of books on architecture and design. The hotel has two swimming pools, a gym, a spa with 10 treatment rooms and four conference rooms. Although the hotel does not have direct beach access, it is located five minutes walking distance.
