Wild Coast Tented Lodge

Introduction

Wild Coast Tented Lodge, located in the buffer zone of Yala National Park, is a luxurious campsite offering accommodation in 28 uniquely designed cocoons. It is the latest addition to Resplendent Ceylon’s collection of high-end hotels. Taking in natural colours and shapes of the area, this Relais & Châteaux resort is designed by a group of Dutch, English and Sri Lankan designers with the intention of seamlessly blending in man-made structures with the local landscape.

Accommodation

The tents at Wild Coast Tented Lodge are uniquely shaped and are referred to as Cocoons and Urchins.

Cocoon Suites: The 55 square metre Cocoons come with high ceilings and offer jungle views from the double-glazed facades. The tents are furnished with teak floors, canvas walls and king-sized beds. Four Cocoons are beach facing with private pools, while the remaining 16 are situated close to watering holes in clusters of four.

Family Cocoons: These 55 square metre Cocoons have an adjoining twin-bedded 20 square metre Urchin tent which are ideal for children and young adults. The Cocoon and Urchin are connected by an open pathway.

Cocoon Pool Suites: Offering a similar layout as the Cocoon Suite, these pool suites are furnished with four-poster king-sized beds and leather furnishing. In addition, the Cocoon Pool Suite also has its own private pool making it the most exclusive category at the resort.

All Cocoons and Urchins are air-conditioned with Wi-Fi, minibar facilities and ensuite bathrooms with h/w showers.

Facilities

The meals at Wild Coast Tented Lodge comprises of a gourmet safari cuisine with a Sri Lankan flair served at their bamboo Dining Pavilion. Breakfast features a variety of traditional Sri Lankan and international favourites, Lunch has a la carte options with post evening game cocktails and dinner is a lavish affair.

If guests book on all-inclusive basis they will enjoy breakfast, lunch, evening tea, dinner, all beverages including house spirits and wines and two game drives. The beach stretch at Wild Coast Tented Lodge, although accessible, is not suitable for swimming. Guests need to be aware of the possibility of wild animals entering the resort from time to time as the property sits on the buffer zone of the park. Guests are advised to follow the comprehensive safety guidelines set in place by the hotel to ensure their safety as well as that of the animals.

Sustainability

Wild Coast Tented Lodge belongs to the Resplendent Ceylon hotel group who run a variety of sustainability projects through their MJF Foundation. These initiatives range from training local students in the art of cuisine in hospitality to supporting children with disabilities through providing them with essential resources.

Location

Wild Coast Tented Lodge serves Yala National Park in the far south-east of Sri Lanka. Journey time is about six hours from the airport and we strongly recommend an overnight stay along the coast or take an air taxi most of the way.
