Introduction

Taru Villas - Rampart Street is a four bedroom, two-storey villa in Galle Fort that blends old world charm with modern living. Colonial architectural features of high ceilings, arches and columns, timber floors and an old wooden staircase have been maintained and enhanced with elegant interiors that are light and airy. Antique Dutch period furniture is blended with comfortable sofas and soft furnishings in soothing neutral colours. The villa must be booked in its entirety and can comfortably accommodate 8 guests.

Accommodation

Four a/c bedrooms – two doubles on the upper floor and two doubles on the ground floor with direct pool access. All are elegantly furnished with four-poster beds dressed in crisp white linen and fitted with mosquito netting. The spacious master bed room has a raised bathroom with a bathtub and views overlooking the ramparts and the ocean beyond.

Facilities

The ground floor consists of a lounge and library with wifi, and an elegant dining room with seating for 10 opening out to the back garden. A 10m swimming pool with outdoor pavilion sits amidst a lush green garden with tall trees that attract many birds. Sri Lankan rice and curries and simple western dishes are served here prepared with fresh local produce. A la carte menus available or discuss your preference with the chef.

Location

Taru Villas - Rampart Street sits in the heart of Galle Fort overlooking the ramparts and the Indian Ocean beyond. The journey from Colombo’s International Airport will take about 2.5 hours via the Southern highway or take the Air Taxi which lands at Koggala - a 15-minute drive away. A daily sea plane service also exists between Hatton in the tea country and Koggala and we can book seats at competitive rates.
