Kumu Beach

Introduction

Kumu Beach is a stylish boutique hotel fronting the Balapitiya beach in the western coast between Bentota and Galle. Offering accommodation in 10 ocean front rooms, it is part of the highly-regarded Teardrop group and is ideal for those who want a holiday by the beach without having to travel too far. This contemporary styled hotel is largely symmetrical in design and is complete with spacious living areas decorated in tones of blue and fitted with cosy furniture, which opens on to a furnished wooden veranda.

The rooms are located on the upper floor while the common areas including the restaurant is on the ground floor.

Accommodation

Kumu Beach comprises of four Ocean View Suites, four Ocean View Bedrooms and two Kumu Bedrooms. Most rooms are sea facing and benefit from a private balcony or terrace which offers stunning views of the Indian Ocean and the horizon beyond. Amply spacious and well-appointed with king-sized beds, the neutral interior of the rooms are complemented with colourful paintings and batik wall hangings.

Facilities include: A/C, overhead fans, cable TV, coffee and tea making facilities and Wi-Fi. Ensuite bathrooms have h/w showers.

Offering direct access to the beach, the hotel opens out to a well-tendered garden and a 23-metre infinity pool surrounded by sun loungers. The menu at Kumu Beach comprises of gourmet a la carte fusion options including tapas-style platters championing fresh seafood and local produce. Guests have the option of dining in the café-style restaurant or alfresco at the timber deck which overlooks the garden and ocean. The staff are even happy to organise a special candlelit dinner in a private area on request. Kumu Beach serves a variety of wines and beers and guests also have the option of bringing their own alcohol.
