Introduction
Tri Koggala, surrounded by artfully-landscaped, lush greenery and positioned on the edge of spectacular Koggala Lake, is a haven for the mind, body and soul. Designed by award-winning architect Raefer Wallis and photographer Rob Drummond, Tri is a celebration of sustainability creatively combined with the ancient Greek mathematical theory of the golden ratio, a theory of design which creates shapes that the eye sees as perfectly beautiful. It is an ideal property for relaxation and escape and can be accessed by boat, which increases the feeling of worldly-detachment that you find at this retreat. Tri Koggala does not accept children under the age of 12 years.
Accommodation
All ten rooms are built using eco-friendly material in order to minimize the impact to the environment. They are categorised into: Water Tower Rooms, Lake Suite, Lake Villa, Family Villa and Tri Villa.
Water Tower Rooms: Located in the Water Tower, an elliptical structure decorated with cinnamon sticks, these rooms are furnished with a king-sized bed adorned with printed bed linen and have an ensuite bathroom wit h/w rain shower. Separated from the other accommodation, they are ideal for older teens or lone travellers who want their own space or even for travellers who are on a budget. There is a rooftop space complete with comfortable seats where you can enjoy a drink and watch the sun go down.
Lake Suites: Spacious and well-appointed with similar furnishings. In addition, they have a comfortable sofa and balcony overlooking the lake.
Villas: Complete with all of the above, but in a more spacious layout. One of the villas has a private plunge pool.
Facilities
Tri offers a range of facilities to help you replenish your mind, body and soul. Take a swim in their infinity swimming pool, read a book in the library or join a yoga class conducted by Quantum Yoga founder Lara Baumann-Drummond at the tree-top yoga shala. There is also a spa which offers a selection of relaxing treatments. Go out on Koggala Lake in a kayak or the hotel’s boat. The restaurant, Kabalana Beach, serves exquisite Sri Lankan fusion gourmet cuisine, prepared with local produce.
