Introduction
Uga Bay is a luxurious resort in Pasikudah on Sri Lanka's east coast which fuses tropical living with Mediterranean style. Its semi-circular design allows for spectacular ocean, beach and garden views from all its rooms and suites, as well as the restaurants. When you enter through the main doorway you are stunned by the view of infinite water, starting at the pond and the swimming pool and finally reaching the turquoise seas of the Indian Ocean. The accommodation of this contemporary hotel is in 46 studios, a luxurious suite and an intimate Beach Villa that allows direct access to the sandy shores. Uga Bay is one of three luxury resorts owned by Uga Escapes. The other resorts include Jungle Beach located in Trincomalee, Ulagalla in Anuradhapura, Residence in Colombo and Chena Huts in Yala.
Accommodation
There are 46 Studio Rooms, the Bay Suite and the luxurious Beach Villa, all of which open out to private terraces or balconies with views. The Studio Rooms are housed in two-storey clusters, with each cluster consisting of four rooms, of which two are Ocean Studios – located on the upper floor – and two Beach Studios. Interiors are stylish and rooms are furnished with twin or king-sized beds, a wardrobe and lounge chairs. In-room facilities include: a/c and an overhead fan, 42 inch LED TV with satellite channels, DVD player, IDD telephone, complimentary Wi-Fi, tea/coffee facilities and a mini bar and an electronic safe. Ensuite bathrooms have twin vanities and h/w rain showers.
Beach & Ocean Studios (540 sq. feet): The 22 Ocean Studios are located on the upper floor of the Studio clusters and offer a palm fringed ocean, beach or garden view. The 24 Beach Studios are located on the ground floor of the Studio clusters and have direct access to the beach through the gardens.
Bay Suite (1,200 sq. ft): The spacious Bay Suite consists of two ensuite bedrooms, a living room and a dining area which leads out to a timber deck with a plunge pool. In addition to the standard in-room facilities, the Bay Suite has an iPod dock and a private bar. The ensuite bathrooms have twin vanities, a bath tub and h/w rain showers. Up to four guests can be accommodated in the Bay Suite, ideal for a family or friends travelling together.
Beach Villa (2,700 sq. ft): Located at the edge of the sea, the two-storey Beach Villa has two ensuite bedrooms, a large living space with in-room dining facilities and sun deck with a private plunge pool. The Beach Villa is ideal for a family or even a romantic getaway and has palm fringed views of the bay, beach access and a natural pond.
Facilities
Dine on creative Mediterranean and Sri Lankan fusion cuisine prepared with fresh village vegetables and seafood purchased from the local fisherman. Meals are served at the main restaurant, the poolside cabanas or in the privacy of your own Studio, Suite or Villa. Sunset cocktails, chilled beers, other alcoholic beverages and fresh juices are served at the lounge bar which overlooks the infinity swimming pool and the shimmering sea beyond. There is also an in-house spa which offers a range of Swedish and Balinese massages and facial treatments. Other resort facilities include a fully-equipped gym, jet skis and other water sports and complimentary resort-wide Wi-Fi.
