Introduction
Palagama Beach is a small village in itself that spreads across acres of secluded private land in the fishing village of Alankuda in Sri Lanka's north-west with wild beaches, sand dunes and coconut palms. Individual beach houses and colourful cabanas provide complete privacy and lead straight to the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. A large swimming pool and dining area is set close to the beach. Relax by the poolside, spend a quiet morning in your own veranda with a good book, or venture off on an adventurous dolphin spotting excursions. Palagama Beach is ideal for even families travelling with children.
Accommodation
Accommodation options here include wooden cabanas or in one of two separate houses - Begonia and Araliya. All rooms are named after local flowers, decorated with vibrant colours and have ensuite bathrooms with h/w showers. Overhead fans help to keep the rooms cool.
Wooden Cabanas: Designed similarly to the village huts found in Kalpitiya, cabanas are timber with thatched roofs and have a private veranda which opens out to a small enclosed garden. There is one beach cabana located close to the sea and swimming pool, ideal for a romantic honeymoon. Three more cabanas – Rosa, Nelun and Jasmine -- are set further back. Each has a bedroom with a double bed and as well as a day bed that can sleep an additional guest.
Araliya House: 50 metres from the pool, the house has two bedrooms - one double and a twin – living/dining area and kitchen. One bathroom with h/w shower is shared by both rooms. Double room is furnished with a brass antique bed. Suitable for a couple or small family, this can accommodate up to four guests.
Begonia House: Set closer to the swimming pool, this consists of two ensuite double rooms and dining area. Each room has a private sit-out within enclosed gardens. Can accommodate up to four guests.
